Christophe Galtier: 'A crucial match'
The Paris Saint-Germain coach answered questions from PSG TV and the media ahead of the Ligue 1 matchday 35 against AC Ajaccio, this Saturday 13 May at 21:00 at the Parc des Princes. Here are some extracts.
the match in troyes
We were coming off a poor performance against Lorient, both in terms of results and in terms of the way we played. We had to get back to our standards, we had problems controlling the game for a while, we created very few situations and we lacked consistency. I found this consistency in the match against Troyes, whether it was at the start of the game or after the break in the second half, where we were there to extend the lead as quickly as possible. All in all, it was a good performance.
ajaccio's set up
When you are at Paris Saint-Germain, you can analyse the opponent, but they often change their system when they come to the Parc des Princes. We are working on our principles, we have relied this week on what we did well in the last game against Troyes, with much more intensity in the recovery and a better quality of play.
the end of the season
The match against Ajaccio will be more crucial than decisive. That's what I said about the Troyes game and that's what I'll repeat about the Ajaccio game. If we win on Saturday, we won't be champions. The decisive matches will come later. But we have this great determination with one goal: the French league title.
the attacking organisation
When Léo Messi is on the pitch, we have to adapt things to find a good balance and find an attacking structure. Against Troyes, we saw the team express themselves in a good way in what we had set up. With Léo, we will have to find the same kind of attacking movement.
the opponent
It's very difficult for them to stay in Ligue 1, even if mathematically they are not relegated. But the players will come to the Parc des Princes free, without the pressure of result. There will simply be a desire to express themselves. With great exposure, the players who come to the Parc always want to perform. I expect a match where the other team will not give up. We'll have to be very determined from the start of the match, so that we don't let them settle into the game.
