Christophe Galtier, a born winner!

After a playing and coaching career defined by his unquenched thirst for victory, Christophe Galtier takes charge of Paris Saint-Germain.

As a player, Christophe Galtier played 343 games in France. He started at Marseille before going to Lille, Angers, Toulouse and Nîmes, and then heading abroad to Monza in Italy and Liaoning Yuandong in China.

The former defender picked up six France U21 caps, winning the U21 EURO in 1988 by beating Italy, England and Greece.

A leader on the pitch, Galtier naturally took up coaching when he hung up his boots. He worked as assistant coach first in Greece and Abu Dhabi before returning to France with Marseille and Bastia. He then became assistant to Alain Perrin, working together at Sochaux, Portsmouth, Lyon and Saint-Etienne where Galtier would succeed Perrin as number 1. He won the Coupe de France with Sochaux and Lyon, where he also won the Ligue 1 title, as assistant before claiming his first silverware as boss: the 2013 Coupe de la Ligue, ending Saint-Etienne's 32-year wait for a trophy.

He then joined Lille, keeping them in Ligue 1 before guiding them to a runners-up finish and then claiming the 2020/21 league title. His one-year spell at Nice saw them finish fifth in the league after challenging all season long.

He now moves to Paris Saint-Germain for the biggest challenge of his career so far. A three-time Coach of the Year in 2019, 2021 and 2013 when he shared the award with then-Paris boss Carlo Ancelotti; He was also named French Coach of the Year by France Football magazine in 2019 and 2021.

He has already enjoyed quite a career, but the newest page in Christophe Galtier's coaching story could be the best one yet!
