Choupo-Moting, a thirst for victory

New signing Eric Maxim Choupo Moting has arrived to bolster the attack and add to coach Thomas Tuchel's options up front with the Rouge-et-Bleu looking to take on numerous challenges this season.

The Cameroon international (45 caps, 14 goals) knows Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel well having played under him at Mainz between 2011 and 2014 (74 games, 20 goals). His profile meets the expectations of the German coach, who spoke about the newcomer in his deadline day press conference: "He's good with his head and very good in aerial challenges. It's one of the great qualities of Edinson Cavani, and with Maxim, we have a similar profile. Edi wants to play every game, but you need someone behind him who's ready when called, who's always positive, and who works hard, and Eric Maxim is like that, he has his qualities. He can have an immediate impact in a game, he never loses sight of victory, of doing well. He's the kind of profile we had been looking for."

Comfortable in the air and on the ground, the new Paris forward led Stoke City in attempted dribbles (122) and successful dribbles (61) last season in the Premier League.

Before that, he made his reputation in Germany, the country of his birth in 252 appearances with Hamburg, Nuremberg, Mainz and Schalke 04, scoring 55 goals. An experienced and effective foward, the new Paris Saint-Germain number 17 will no doubt be ready to seize his opportunity when the time comes.
