It's a dream final, that will take place during the night between Saturday and Sunday (2:00, CEST) between the two biggest footballing nations in South America. The final of the Copa America 2021 will see Tite's Seleçao take on Scaloni's Albiceleste.

The details to know

Brazil – Argentina, it's a rivalry that is old as time. It will be the 108th match between the two giants of South American football (43 wins for Brazil, 39 for Argentina and 25 draws).

Argentina's last defeat dates back to 2019, when the two sides faced off in the semi-final of the competition. The last defeat for Brazil took place in a friendly against the Albiceleste…

It will be the fourth Copa America final between Brazil and Argentina. Argentina won the battle on one occasion (1937) and Brazil have come out on top in the last two encounters (2004 and 2007).

The men to follow

Although the rivalry is well established on the other side of the Atlantic, this match will also see four Paris Saint-Germain colleagues battle it out. Neymar Jr and Marquinhos for Brazil will face Di Maria and Paredes for Argentina. There is no doubt, whatever happens, two players will head back to Paris with the prestigious trophy.

Before them, four players have already taken home the title while playing for Les Rouge et Bleu: Leonardo (Brazil, 1987), Thiago Silva, Daniel Alves (Brazil, 2019) and a certain Marquinhos, who could become the first Parisian to win the title on two occasions.

After winning the Olympics in 2016, Neymar Jr will be looking to lift his first trophy with his international side! In excellent form in the competition, the Paris n°10 has been involved in 5 goals in 5 matches during the campaign, while Marquinhos also found the back of the net during Brazil's first match against Venezuela.

For Argentina, Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes will try to lift a trophy for a country that has been dreaming about it for 28 years, after they lifted the Copa America in 1993. Fideo made the difference in the semi-final, providing two gems at the end of the match for Lautaro Martinez who missed a huge chance, while Messi hit the post.

A look back on the route to the final

On both sides, the two teams have made it to the final with an almost perfect run! The hosts of the competition, Brazil finished top of Group A, while Argentina topped Group B.

4 matches played, 3 wins and a draw: the record is exactly the same for both sides, who were the only sides not to have lost a match in the group stage.

But although Brazil largely outclassed their opponent in the group stage, it was by the smallest of margins that Neymar Jr and co. managed to beat Chile (1-0) and then Peru (1-0) in order to secure their ticket for the final.

Argentina first convincingly knocked out Ecuador (3-0), before needing a penalty shootout to eliminate Colombia (1-1, 3-2 on penalties) to make it to the final.
