Bradley Barcola: ‘A great reward'
Recently voted player of the month for September, the Paris Saint-Germain striker spoke to PSG TV about his impressive start to the season ahead of his Ligue 1 match day 8 encounter against RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Parc des Princes on Saturday 19th October at 9pm.
Bradley, congratulations on winning the UNFP Trophy for Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September! How do you feel?
‘It's a great award! I'm really proud to have it, and here in Paris too. So I'm really happy. It's a reward that comes after a lot of hard work, so I can't help but feel proud.'
You've scored 6 goals in 7 Ligue 1 games, making you the current top scorer in the league. What makes you so successful?
‘First of all, I'm thinking of my team-mates. I've had a lot of help! We've got a really good team this season, so I can't help but be helped. After that, as I said, it's all about hard work, really hard work, and having a real desire to score.’
Tell us about this connection with your team-mates and your relationship with Luis Enrique...
‘It comes naturally. We already worked on it last season and it also came naturally with the players who joined the team this summer, they adapted quickly. Luis Enrique? I have a very good relationship with him, one based on trust. Even in the most difficult moments, he's always been by my side, pushing me.'
Since the start of the season, you've also shone for the French national team, scoring your first goal... at the Parc des Princes (1-3, 06/09/2024)!
‘It was a very quick goal too! My first goal for Les Bleus, at home... it was incredible. I was so happy and so proud. What's more, my family were there. It was wonderful!'
Getting back to PSG, if you had to pick one moment in particular from your first 7 Ligue 1 matches, which would you choose?
‘There are so many matches! We've really enjoyed ourselves so far. In my opinion, the team's best match was against Montpellier (6-0, 23/08/2024). We really dominated from start to finish. You could tell we were all enjoying ourselves together.'
