Blaise Matuidi: "Etched in my memory forever"

As the Parisians celebrate their 11th French league title, former players from the club from the capital talk about their memories as champions. Blaise Matuidi, who won the title with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018, tells us about his fondest memories.

Blaise, what is the first memory that comes back to you when you talk about Paris Saint-Germain?

"My first memory was signing for the club. It was a dream come true for me, I wanted to wear my favourite club's shirt, Paris Saint-Germain, that's still my first memory."

And if you had to choose a best memory?

"My best memory is the first title we won, it was an incredible feeling. I won the first title of my career, with my favourite club, it's something I'll never forget. The title celebration was amazing, a moment I shared with Mamadou Sakho, we took everyone with us, it's a very special memory."

What moment comes to mind when you think of the Parc des Princes?

"If I had to remember one moment at the Parc des Princes, it was that match against Barcelona, when I scored the equaliser. I was lucky enough to equalise, everyone thought it was over, and then there is this relief that came. We drew 2-2 against the best Barcelona of the last few years, so it remains an incredible moment for me."

Which of the five titles you have won was the most emotional?

"Even if all the titles are incredible, we usually remember the first one. No title is easy to win, but it's true that the first one was intense, it was simply magical, and living that with Paris Saint-Germain, it will remain etched in my memory forever."
