Bernat: 'Important and enriching'

After a long trip to China, Juan Bernat joined PSG.fr to look ahead to the China Tour 2019 and also gave his opinion about his new teammates and compatriots in Rouge et Bleu.

Juan, it was a long trip to China (11-hour flight), how do you feel?
"Obviously a little tired! We landed in Shenzhen late in the morning and after lunch, I went and had a little siesta. Now we have to get used to this new time zone."

These pre-season tours are very important for the club, how do the players see them?
"Yes, they are very important for the club and it's always enriching to visit a new country. It's the opportunity to get to closer to our Chinese fans who can come and watch training, our matches, and for us, it's a great way to prepare for the new season."

You will play teams on the China Tour... Inter and Sydney FC.
"They are two good tests. The first against a very big European club in Inter Milan and then another against Sydney FC, before the Trophée des Champions against Rennes. I hope it will be the perfect way to start the new season."

What do you think about pre-season training where the priority is fitness?
"It's always the most difficult, least enjoyable part of the season. It's very demanding, especially after a few weeks of holidays without training, even if we all try to stay in shape. It's really tough, with a lot of running, with and without the ball. We have been back in training for two weeks and the team has been working very well back in Paris and now we will fine-tune this here in China."

With Jesé, Herrera and Sarabia, the Spanish community in Paris is growing... What do these players bring to the club?
"They are great players and great people. I have known Pablo (Sarabia) for a long time, same with Jesé. And now I will get to know Herrera. But they are all great guys. Pablo is coming off a great season with Sevilla. Herrera is an established player and has great quality. He will bring a lot to the team, he is a great player.

Last year was an important season for you. What are your objectives for the coming campaign?
"It is a bit like a season to confirm my good campaign. I am very happy with last season and I am very motivated for the coming season. I am working hard to be ready."
