Bernat: 'Cement our top spot'

Paris Saint-Germain left back Juan Bernat joined PSG TV to look ahead to tonight's UEFA Champions League match at home to Club Brugge that could see the French champions qualify for the Last-16...

Juan, what did the coach have to say after the Dijon loss?

"The coach didn't need to make long speeches after the game, we all know we didn't measure up. Dijon played well, they knew how to hurt us and did it very well. We were leading but they created scoring chances. I think we were better in the second half, we had a lot of chances, but not much luck, we didn't manage to score and in the end I think the defeat is a little deserved. Now we have to turn things around and prepare for the next game."

You are one of the senior Spaniards now in your second season with the club. Have you played a role in helping the new guys settle in?
"When new players arrive, it's important to go to them, to help them settle in well. I tried to help them, it's true that there are a lot of players who speak Spanish, like the South Americans, and they integrated very quickly into the group. We have a lot of quality players and a united dressing room is one of our strengths."

On Wednesday you take on Club Brugge au Parc des Princes. What sort of match are you expecting?
"This is an important match that can see us confirm our qualification. The Champions League is a fantastic competition and we always try to win every match. We will give it all we've got on Wednesday. We want to win in front of our fans, in our stadium, play a good game and consolidate our first position in the section."

The first meeting ended 5-0 to Paris, but it wasn't always as easy as the score suggests...

"In the first half, it was difficult for us, but in the second half and at the end of the game, we had better chances and we were able to score more goals. This Wednesday, we have to expect a slightly different game, because we will be at home. We'll see on Wednesday how they try and attack and press. Our pitch is a little bit bigger, our fans will be there to support us, it will probably be harder for them to come and put pressure on us."
