Herrera: 'Our team spirit will keep getting better'

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera spoke to PSG TV about the first two weeks of the Ligue 1 season, before looking ahead to Sunday's clash with Nice.

Ander, Paris won its first match of the season this Wednesday...
"It was very important to win against Metz, to get our first victory after two defeats. It's quite crazy in the end to see that we lost those first two games, because we did everything we could to win them, creating a lot of chances. It was the same against Metz, we could have scored 3 or 4 goals before Drax's strike, but it's also a strong feeling to win when your backs are to the wall."

How can you find the strength in those last minutes of play when everyone was clearly exhausted?
"We couldn't really believe it was still 0-0 in injury time, considering what we'd produced so far. We'd created a lot of chances for ourselves, and we thought that if we kept going like this, we were going to be able to get something positive out of it. That's what happened, and we're happy about it."

We felt a great relief after the goal, the win...
"If we have learned anything from the defeat against Marseille, it is to deal with this frustration and turn it into something positive, which pushes us to do better and keep moving forward. I think we can be proud of ourselves after the victory over Metz, because we managed to win despite the circumstances."

How do you explain the difficulties encountered at the start of the season?
"Nowadays, physical condition on a pitch is a key element. We are athletes, and there is a big difference between training for a month and training for 4 days. A lot of parameters depend on training, fitness, recovery... all these factors are very important, and we tend to forget this sometimes."

We have a trip to Nice on Sunday, for another big game...
"It's a new test on Sunday in Nice, we will face a very good team, but we have grown in confidence with Wednesday's victory. Our state of mind will be even better and we will prepare ourselves well."
