All you need to know: Stade de Reims - Paris Saint-Germain

The stats and the stakes ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 encounter in the Champagne region.

A little history

Paris Saint-Germain and Stade de Reims have met in 26 competitive games. The Rouge-et-Bleu have registered 11 wins to eight losses with seven draws.

In the 1970s, Reims caused the capital club all sorts of problems. They're one of the few French teams (along with Nantes in 1970/71 and Nancy in 1984/85) to score six goals against the Parisians. Carlos Bianchi, who would join Paris Saint-Germain three years later, scored all their goals in a 6-1 league win on 9 August, 1974.

Sixteen players have featured for both clubs: Manuel Abreu, Carlos Bianchi, Grégory Bourillon, Bernard Bureau, François Calderaro, Jean-François Charbonnier, Antoine Conte, Amara Diané, Antoine Garceran, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Dominique Lokoli, David N'Gog, Richard Niederbacher, Alain Polaniok, Younousse Sankharé and Siaka Tiéné.

Edinson Cavani's seven goals against Reims make him the club's leading scorer in the fixture, François M'Pelé lies second (5 buts).

The stakes

Paris Saint-Germain are coming up against one of the few sides to have registered back-to-back wins against them: 3-1 in Reims on 24 May, 2019, and 0-2 at the Parc des Princes on 25 September, 2019.

No team has managed to win three successive matches against Paris Saint-Germain in the last decade (Bordeaux, Marseille, Rennes and Toulouse last did so in 2009).

The Rouge-et-Bleu have not enjoyed their recent trips to Reims: since the hosts initial return to Ligue 1 in 2012, the visitors have won just once and lost twice in five trips to the Stade Auguste Delaune.

Keys to the match

After two defeats to start the season, Paris Saint-Germain have beaten Metz (1-0) and Nice (0-3) in their last two league games.

The Parisian defence is looking for a third successive clean sheet. They've not managed such a streak since the start of the 2019/20 season (4-0 against Toulouse, 2-0 in Metz, 1-0 against Strasbourg, 1-0 in Lyon). The four-game run was ended by Reims (0-2, 25/09/2019).
