All you need to know: Paris Saint-Germain - Monaco!

The stats, the stakes, and a little history: everything you need to know about Sunday's Ligue 1 encounter.

A little history

It will be the 102nd competitive meeting between the two. The Parisians have won 30 times and suffered 44 losses. Only Girondins de Bordeaux, with 105 matches, have faced Paris Saint-Germain more times.

In recent games, however, Paris Saint-Germain have the edge with nine successive wins against Monaco (with 34 goals scored and only five conceded), and they have not lost to the principality outfit since 28 August 2016 (3-1 in Monaco in Ligue 1). If the Parisians win tonight, it'll be the second-longest streak of successive wins after the 17 against Nantes from 2007 to 2019.

Some 34 players have played for both teams: Jimmy Algerino, Jean-Kevin Augustin, Ali Benarbia, Daniel Bernard, Daniel Bravo, Edouard Cissé, Alain Couriol, Eric Cubilier, Omar Da Fonseca, James Debbah, Youri Djorkaeff, Jean-Pierre Dogliani, Louis Floch, Marcelo Gallardo, Franck Gava, Xavier Gravelaine, Bernard Guignedoux, Ludovic Giuly, Layvin Kurzawa, Yvon Leroux, Mickael Madar, Kylian Mbappé, Jéremy Menez, Nenê, Alex Nyarko, Christian Perez, José Karl Pierre-Fanfan, Fabrice Poullain, Bruno Rodriguez, Jean-Louis Rostagni, Jérôme Rothen, Amara Simba, Marco Simone and George Weah.

Edinson Cavani leads the club's stats with 15 goals against Monaco. He's well ahead of Angel Di Maria and Carlos Bianchi (6), Amara Diané (4), Julian Draxler, Kylian Mbappé and Ronaldinho (3).

Three Parisians have scored a hat-trick against Monaco: Carlos Bianchi (3-0 at the Parc des Princes, 25 May 1979), Edinson Cavani (4-0 in Monaco, 11 November 2018) and Kylian Mbappé (3-1 in Paris, 21 April 2019).

Kylian Mbappé will set a new club record if he scores: it would mark a ninth consecutive match in which he finds the net, beating the mark of Carlos Bianchi from 1978-1979 that Mbappé equalled last week against Saint-Etienne.

The stakes
Paris Saint-Germain will want to continue their run of wins, which stands at eight since the 2-2 draw in Madrid on 26 November. If the Rouge et Bleu win, they'll close in on the club record runs of 16 wins in 2015-2016 and 11 in 2013-2014.

The keys to the game
It'll be a special game for Marco Verratti, who's in line to play his 300th competitive game since arriving in 2012. He'll become the eighth Rouge et Bleu to achieve the total after (in alphabetical order): Sylvain Armand, Mustapha Dahleb, Bernard Lama, Paul Le Guen, Jean Marc Pilorget, Safet Susic and Thiago Silva.
