All you need to know: Paris Saint-Germain-Lyon!

The stats, the stakes and a little spot of history ahead of Sunday's heavyweight Ligue 1 encounter at the Parc des Princes.

A little history...

This will be the 98th match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon - the Rouge et Bleu have only played Bordeaux (104) and Monaco (101) more times. Lyon join Nantes on 98 meetings with the capital club. The Parisians boast 40 wins to 30 losses in their previous meetings.

The Parisians have not lost against Lyon in nine competitive meetings at the Parc des Princes since the 3-1 Coupe de France quarter-final loss on 21 March, 2012. The last league defeat dates back more than 12 years since a 3-2 Lyon win on 28 October, 2007.

The duo's last draw was on 8 February, 2015 (1-1 in Lyon). In the 13 games since, the capital club have won 10 times and lost on just three occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain recorded their lowest attendance ever against Lyon on 27 May 1980: 4520 fans saw a 2-1 Parisian win.

Twenty-six players have featured for both clubs: Hatem Ben Arfa, Milan Bisevac, Mathieu Bodmer, Luc Borrelli, François Brisson, Jéremy Clement, Grégory Coupet, James Debbah, Vikash Dhorasoo, Jean Djorkaeff, Raymond Domenech, Fabrice Fiorèse, Pierre-Alain Frau, Laurent Fournier, Franck Gava, Ludovic Giuly, Pascal Havet, David Hellebuyck, Christophe Jallet, Gérard Lanthier, Patrice Loko, Peguy Luyindula, Florian Maurice, Bruno Ngotty, Jean-Luc Sassus and Daniel Xuereb. Moussa Dembélé, who never played a professional game for Paris Saint-Germain, is not included.

Edinson Cavani is the Parisian who has scored most goals against Lyon with eight. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (7) and Mustapha Dahleb (6) come next.

The stakes...

The Parisians are unbeaten since losing 2-1 to Dijon on 1 November, a 20-game streak in all competitions. If they avoid defeat to Lyon, the run will enter into the club's top five unbeaten streaks of all time (the record is 37 matches between 1993 and '94).

The Parisian goalscorers could continue their remarkable run since the start of 2020 with 14 goals in just three games. The club's goalgetters have often been productive against OL with 145 goals scored, a tally bettered only against Saint-Étienne (150) and Lens (146).

The keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain should be able to count on Marco Verratti, who could become the club's 17th player to reach 200 Ligue 1 appearances. The Italy international is the second to reach the milestone since the arrival of the new shareholders after Thiago Silva.
