All you need to know: Paris Saint-Germain - Bordeaux!

The stats, the stakes and a little history ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 game.

A little history...

Paris Saint-Germain-Bordeaux is a classic league encounter for the Rouge-et-Bleu: they've met 105 times, more than any other fixture for the Parisians, who have played Monaco 103 times, Lyon 98 and Marseille 97.

Bordeaux are the team that has met the Parisians most at the Parc des Princes, with 53 visits, ahead of Marseille and Nantes (49) then Monaco (48).

The capital club has a slight advantage in the duo's overall record: 42 wins, 24 draws and 39 defeats. The Parisians are unbeaten in ten competitive meetings between the pair (7 wins), last tasting defeat to Les Girondins on 15 March 2015, losing 3-2 at the Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas.

The Parisians have not lost any of their last nine games at the Parc against Bordeaux (6 wins), last losing in the league on 28 October 2010 (2-1).

Thirty players have played for both teams: Yacine Adli, Claude Arribas, William Ayache, Ali Benarbia, Clément Chantôme, Christian, Patrick Colleter, Stéphane Dalmat, Vikash Dhorasoo, Kaba Diawara, Raymond Domenech, Laurent Fournier, Guillaume Hoarau, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Jean-Louis Leonetti, Laurent Leroy, Peter Luccin, Patrice Marquet, Jérémy Menez, Roland Mitoraj, Bernard Pardo, Pedro Miguel Pauleta, Mauricio Pochettino, Philippe Redon, Alain Roche, Jean-Louis Rostagni, Younousse Sankharé, Toko, Jean-Pierre Tokoto and Zlatko Vujovic. Youssouf Sabaly does not feature in the list as he never played a first-team game for the club.

Edinson Cavani is the club's record scorer against Bordeaux with 11, he's ahead of Pedro Miguel Pauleta (7 goals), Mustapha Dahleb and Dominique Rocheteau (5 goals).

The stakes...

After the defeat in Dortmund (2-1) in the UEFA Champions League Last 16 first-leg tie on Tuesday, the Parisians will be looking to reassure themselves by extending their unbeaten run in the league: the Rouge et Bleu are unbeaten in their last 13 L1 games since losing at Dijon (1-0, 01/11/2019).

Following Marseille's defeat to Nantes (1-3) on Saturday, a win over Bordeaux would put the Parisians 13 points ahead of the chasing pack with 12 games to go, and would be a big step towards another league title.

The keys to the match...

Paris Saint-Germain, since losing to Reims on 25 September, have scored 40 goals in just 11 games at the Parc des Princes, an average of nearly four goals a game!

The Rouge-et-Bleu have conceded just nine goals and registered 11 clean sheets in 16 matches since the start of the 2019/20 season.

Improving both stats will give the side a confidence boost ahead of the second leg against Dortmund on 11 March.
