All you need to know: Paris Saint-Germain - Angers

All the stats and essential tidbits ahead of Friday's Ligue 1 game.

HISTORY...

Anger have a special place in Paris Saint-Germain history: they were the Club's first opponents in a top-flight game on 11 August, 1971 (0-2).

Three years later, on 13 August 1974, Paris Saint-Germain won their first L1 game at the Parc des Princes with Angers the opponents (3-2).

It's the duo's 30th competitive meeting. The Club's record reads: 19 wins, 7 draws, 3 defeats.

The Rouge-et-Bleu are unbeaten in 25 top-flight meetings with Angers, their last league defeat dating back to 12 January 1975, more than 46 years ago. It's a club record with the next-best coming against Saint-Etienne (23 matches).

Paris Saint-Germain have won their last eight home games against Angers, since drawing 2-2 on the final day of the 1980/81 league season on 2 June, a run of more than 40 years. Angers have never won in 13 competitive visits to the capital (11 defeats, 2 draws).

Paris could record their 13th successive win over Angers, the club's second-best run ever behind the 17-game winning streak against Nantes and better than the 12 successes in a row against Lorient (both runs have since ended).

Twelve players have played for both teams: Loris Arnaud, Claude Arribas, Thierry Bacconnier, Sylvain Bied, Jean-Pierre Bosser, Grégory Bourillon, Jean Deloffre, Jean-Pierre Dogliani, Bruno Germain, Albert Poli, Kalifa Traoré and Pierre Vermeulen. Wilfried Kanga, who did not feature in the Paris Saint-Germain first team, is not included in the list.

François M’Pelé and Kylian Mbappé are the club's top scorers against Angers with six goals each.

THE STAKES...

Paris Saint-Germain, who didn't score against Rennes in their last league game, have won their last two matches against Angers at the Parc des Princes by a five-goal margin (6-1 in L1, 02/10/2020; 5-0 in the Coupe de France, 21/04/2020). That had not happened since they beat Montpellier 5-0 in a L1 game on 1 February, 2020.

The capital club have won their last seven home games in all competitions since losing to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals (1-2) on 28 April this year.

THE KEYS TO THE match...

Mauro Icardi was the last Paris Saint-Germain  player to score a hat-trick in the Coupe de France semi-final against Angers on 21 April, 2020.

Since returning to the top flight in 2015, Angers have lost all seven visits to the Parc des Princes, conceding 27 goals (3.85 per match) and scoring just four.
