All you need to know: Paris-Benfica

All the stats and stakes ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game at the Parc des Princes.

A LITTLE HISTORY...

It's the eighth competitive meeting between the two sides, who have three wins apiece so far.

Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica are meeting for the 17th time overall (friendlies included) since the Parisian club's founding in 1970, equalling Barcelona and Real Madrid as the continental teams they have faced the most. Paris have five wins and six defeats to date.

It'll be the eighth time a Portuguese team comes to the Parc des Princes for a competitive game, and the Rouge et Bleu are unbeaten in those fixtures with five wins and two draws. The Parisians have beaten Boavista (2-1, 26/12/2002), Porto (2-0, 20/10/2004 & 2-1, 04/12/2012), and Benfica (2-1, 08/03/2007 and 2-0 10/12/2013), with draws vs. Braga (0-0, 12/03/2009) and Benfica (1-1, 17/03/2011).

Benfica are the foreign club with the most appearances at the Parc since 1972. This will be their 14th visit, putting them ahead of Bayern Munich (12 matches), Anderlecht (10 matches), FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Porto (9 matches).

Fifteen players have played for both teams: Joao Alves, Fernando Cruz, Angel Di Maria, David Luiz, Julian Draxler,  Guedes, Helder Cristovao Marino, Hugo Leal, Humberto Coelho, Daniel Kenedy, Ricardo, Laurent Robert, Cristian Rodriguez, Renato Sanches and Valdo. Danilo Pereira only played for Benfica's youth teams.

THE STAKES...

The top two in Group H have seven points after three games. Tonight's winner would take a big step towards qualifying for the Round of 16.

It's the capital club's 30th European campaign since making their continental debut in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1982/82, and the 11th successive season in the UEFA Champions League.

Paris are one of three clubs to have always reached the knockout stages since 2012/13, along with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain is going to play their 139th UEFA Champions League game (75 wins, 26 draws, 37 defeats). It'll be the Club's 251st European match*, with a  record of 130 wins, 56 draws and 63 losses.
