All you need to know: Paris - Angers

The history, the stakes and the stats ahead of Wednesday's Coupe de France quarter-final tie.

A LITTLE HISTORY...

This will be the fourth Coupe de France tie between Paris Saint-Germain and Angers with the Parisians boasting a 100% record so far:  winning 2-0 in the Round of 32 on 3 February 1996 at the Parc des Princes, 3-1 in the semis on 20 April 2011, and 1-0 in the final on 12 May 2017.

It's the 28th competitive meeting between the teams. The capital club's record reads: 17 wins, 7 draws, 3 defeats.

Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in 24 competitive meetings with Angers, last losing 46 years ago on 12 January, 1975. That's a club record.

They have won the last 11 since a goalless draw at the Stade Raymond Kopa in a league game on 1 December 2015. If Paris Saint-Germain win again, it will be the second-best winning run in club history behind the 17 successive victories over Nantes and the 12 against Lorient (ongoing).

Angers are the only side to have conceded six goals to Paris Saint-Germain this season, losing 6-1 at the Parc des Princes on 2 October. It was the first time the Parisians had scored six against Angers.

Twelve players have featured for both teams: Loris Arnaud, Claude Arribas, Thierry Bacconnier, Sylvain Bied, Jean-Pierre Bosser, Grégory Bourillon, Jean Deloffre, Jean-Pierre Dogliani, Bruno Germain, Albert Poli, Kalifa Traoré and Pierre Vermeulen.

François M’Pelé (1973-1979) - the only Parisian to score a hat-trick against Angers - and Kylian Mbappé are the club's leading scorers against Angers with six. They're ahead of Angel Di Maria and Neymar (5) and then Edinson Cavani (4).

With 28 goals, François M’Pelé is Paris' leading goalscorer in the Coupe de France. He's ahead of Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pedro Miguel Pauleta (16), Safet Susic (15), Mustapha Dahleb and Kylian Mbappé (14) and Dominique Rocheteau (13).

THE STAKES...

Having already won the Trophée des Champions, the club is on course for an historic quadruple (Ligue 1, Coupe de France et UEFA Champions League). With 13 Coupes de France, the club holds the record with Marseille (10) next-best. The Parisians have featured in the last six finals, winning five of them.

It's the club's 242nd Coupe de France tie. The record: 172 wins, 28 draws, 41 defeats. They have a 71% winning record, a French record.

It's the club's 28th quarter-final (in 51 seasons): 20 of the previous ones have been won.

Paris Saint-Germain have won their last 14 Coupe de France ties at the Parc des Princes since losing 2-1 to Montpellier on 22 January, 2014. They've scored 45 goals and conceded just five in that time, keeping 10 clean sheets.
N.B. a penalty shoot-out defeat is considered statistically as a draw

THE KEYS TO THE match...

Paris Saint-Germain have scored in their last 49 Coupe de France games since losing the 2011 final to Lille, so could bring up the half-century against Angers.

Kylian Mbappé could help with that: he's scored 17 times in his last 13 competitive games for the Rouge et Bleu.

Angel Di Maria has 101 assists in competitive games, and is just two shy of Safet Susic's club record (103 assists from 1982 to 1991).
