A little history...

This is the second official meeting between the two sides after Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 extra-time win in the last-16 of the Coupe de France on 27 February 1998, courtesy of Rai's winner, in a match that saw Pau finish the game with eight men after three sendings off.

5 players have played for both clubs: Edouard Cissé, Xavier Gravelaine, Jean-Michel Larqué, Claude Lowitz and Cédric Pardeilhan. Jean-Luc Girard coached Pau.

The club from the capital will be playing its 235th Coupe de France match in history for 165 wins, 28 draws and 41 losses at a win rate of 70%. (NB: a loss on penalties is statistically considered a draw.)

With 28 goals scored, François M’Pelé is Paris Saint-Germain's all-time Coupe de France leading scorer, ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pedro Miguel Pauleta (16 goals), Safet Susic (15 goals), Edinson Cavani and Mustapha Dahleb (14 goals) and Dominique Rocheteau (13 goals).

The stakes...

Paris Saint-Germain have qualified in each of the last 24 times against lower-division opposition in both the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. The last time they were upset came 1-0 against second division Guingamp on 13 January 2010 in the Coupe de la Ligue last-16.

In the Coupe de France, the last side to beat Paris in the last-16 was third-division Rodez, 3-1 on 4 March 2009.

The club from the capital have also scored in their last 43 away matches in all competitions. The last time they failed to score on the road was a 0-0 draw in Ligue 1 away to Caen on 19 May 2018.

Yet to concede in the Coupe de France this term, if Les Rouge et Bleu can go through the entire campaign unbeaten they will equal the 1992-93 and 2016-17 where they didn't concede a single goal.

Finally, the Paris are playing a club record equalling fifth consecutive away match, as they have done twice before in 2010-11 and 2017-18. However this year, they will be looking to win all five for the first time.

The keys to success...

Paris Saint-Germain can count on Cup top scorer Pablo Sarabia, who has scored three times in the Coupe de France this season: 2 vs Linas-Monthléry (6-0, 05/01/2020) and vs Lorient (1-0, 29/01/2020).

No Paris Saint-Germain player has ever scored more than seven goals in a single Coupe de France season, since the competition abandoned the home and away format in 1989. Guillaume Hoarau (2010-11), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2015-16) and Angel Di Maria (2017-18) are the current club record holders.
