Achraf Hakimi: 'We're looking to turn it around'

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi spoke at the press conference ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against FC Barcelona at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Tuesday 16 April (21:00). Excerpts.

THE FIRST LEG

"My first instinct after the first leg was to push the group and help the team prepare for the return leg. I think we played a good game even if we didn't manage to win it. We talked to each other and motivated each other. We've worked hard and stayed united. Tomorrow, it's time to give it everything we've got and go for the win."

PREPARATIONS FOR THE RETURN LEG

"We're coming here with a lot of drive. We're looking to turn it around and bring victory back to Paris. We're highly motivated and we're really looking forward to tomorrow's game. We want to bring home the win for the fans."

THE STRATEGY

"I think our approach will be the same as it has been since the start of the season: be patient, hold onto the ball and create chances. That's how we'll go about getting the win tomorrow. Our strong point is our team spirit: when we all attack and defend together, we're stronger."

OPPOSITION STRENGTHS

"Our coach knows Barça very well, we've been told a lot about the players, and I think everyone knows their qualities. Now we need to know their weaknesses. I think we have a similar style of play to them. But the danger doesn't just come from Raphinha, they have some very good players and we all have to control them well. We have to win the challenges so that they don't have any freedom on the ball."

LUIS ENRIQUE'S PHILOSOPHY AND HAKIMI'S RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM

"Luis Enrique tries to set up different movements. I find myself in several positions and I think that's a good thing for me. I can see the game in different ways and help the team in different ways. I think the idea of wanting to dominate the opposition throughout the game and create space through these different movements is the difference we've seen compared to the last two seasons. The coach's ideas are very clear and we see that in every game."
