A victory from the most beautiful of reunions!

In their first home match of the season, Paris Saint-Germain secured the victory over Strasbourg (4-2). A look back on the match!

A Parc des Princes on fire, an impressive performance, new recruits introduced to the delight of those in the stands and a former icon moved as he returned home: it was in this magical atmosphere that the curtain was raised in Paris Saint-Germain's home ground on Saturday on Matchday 2 of Ligue 1 against Strasbourg! After a first win at Troyes, Les Parisiens started the encounter with an almost identical starting eleven, with a Draxler-Icardi-Mbappé trio in attack and only Dina-Ebimbe coming into the line-up.

In response to the incredible atmosphere put on by the Rouge et Bleu supporters, Mauricio Pochettino's team quickly set the scene! Pressing high up the pitch, audacious and combativeness: Les Parisiens quickly brought the right ingredients to trouble the side from Alsace's defence. And the difference would be made by Mauro Icardi once again. Abdou Diallo sent an excellent ball into the box and the Argentine centre forward rose the highest to perfectly head the ball home under the bar (1-0, 3')! The tone was set for what was to come.

And as was the case against Troyes, the home side needed just two minutes to grab two goals!

After Achraf Hakimi's effort was blocked, Kylian Mbappé took it upon himself to double his side lead after his powerful strike was deflected by Ajorque and flew into the back of the net (2-0, 25'). In the minutes that followed and after some excellent work from the Frenchman, Julian Draxler catapulted the ball into the back of Sel's goal (3-0, 27'). An excellent showing in front of supporters that so desperately deserved it.

In this strong position, our Rouge et Bleu entered into a phase where they looked to keep hold of the ball, with real technical dominance in midfield and an ability to accelerate things in order to surprise the opposition.

Forced to score in order to stand any chance of remaining in the game, Les Strasbourgeois looked more courageous as they came out from the dressing room. Kévin Gameiro managed to reduce the lead with a smart header (3-1, 53'), before Ajorque also found the back of the net with a header just inside Keylor Navas' goal (3-2, 64'). Les Alsaciens were invigorated on their side of things, while Les Parisiens had been caught out at the other: the final half an hour promised to be high octane! The end of the encounter also saw a red card shown to Djiku for Strasbourg  (81').

With a numerical advantage, our Parisiens dominated debates in a crazy end to the match. And it was Pablo Sarabia who put the result beyond doubt and secured the victory for his side! The Spanish international, came on and impressed, providing another beauty for Kylian Mbappé who was unstoppable all evening (4-2, 86').

Paris Saint-Germain therefore picked up a second win in two matches after a summer evening that will remain in hearts and minds for years to come.
