The new Paris Saint-Germain 2020-21 home and away shirts pay tribute to the leg-endary Hechter Jersey, celebrating the club’s 50th anniversary.

In the 1970s the famous Parisian designer Daniel Hechter took the reins of the club as chairman, creating the club’s iconic jersey. His vision gave the club a new lease of life and laid the foundations for what was to become, from the 1990s onwards, a major European football club. The original design first appeared in 1973 with its central red stripe symbolizing the bold, daring and stylish city of fashion, embodying the spirit and the image of the French capital city. And performance, excellence and style are part of the Paris club’s DNA as it looks to the future.

50 years on, the new 2020-21 PSG home shirt with our partner Nike celebrates this unmis-takable red stripe and pays tribute to the founders of the club, featuring references to these early designs. The club founders had high sporting ambitions which led to the first major European title in 1995-1996: a reference the new 2020-21 away shirt has drawn its roots from. It’s also a nod to the jersey culture which developed at a fast pace in the 1990s.

Paris Saint-Germain has always had both a passion for football and fashion, and these unique jerseys embody the values of the club as well as representing those of Paris.
