2500 Parisians in Liverpool

Some 2,500 fans cheered on Paris Saint-Germain for 90 minutes and beyond as their heroes lost 3-2 at Liverpool in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League group stage opener.

There were more than 2,500 fans who had made the journey across the Channel and arrived in north-west England on Tuesday afternoon where they quickly made themselves heard in the streets of Liverpool.

After moving en masse to Anfield, they upped the volume still more, praising their heroes in their inimitable manner before saluting the local fans' famous rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Liverpool's first two goals did not dampen their enthusiasm, and their energy and noise levels were given a major boost when Thomas Meunier pulled one back and then again when Kylian Mbappé equalised late on.

Though Liverpool eventually claimed the win, players and fans paid tribute to each other, leaving the legendary stadium with applause ringing in their ears. It will surely be the same again when they meet once more at the Parc des Princes.
