2019 in numbers

We've picked out some of the 'wow!' stats from Paris Saint-Germain's exceptional 12 months.

4

With three goals and an assist against Club Brugge on 22 October on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League, Kylian Mbappé became the first substitute to be involved in four goals in the competition since OPTA began analysis in 2003/04. Aged 20 years and 306 days, the Paris number 7 became the third-youngest player to have a hand in four goals in the competition after Wayne Rooney (18 years and 340 days against Fenerbahce on 28 September 2004) and Ousmane Dembélé (19 years and 191 days against Legia Warsaw on 22 November, 2016). The World Cup winner also became the youngest French player to score a hat-trick in European competition.

5

With their 5-0 in in Belgium, the club record for an away win in Europe was equalled. The capital club did the same at Anderlecht (23/10/2013), Malmö (25/11/2015) and Celtic (12/09/2017), all in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Club Brugge had never before conceded five times at home in the competition.

7

Mbappé scored at least once in each of the last seven competitive games of 2019. It means he is closing in on the club record set at eight by Carlos Bianchi in the 1978/79 season. The France international forward could equal that mark in the Coupe de France tie at Linas-Montlhéry on 5 January.

9

With their 9-0 win against Guingamp on 19 January, Paris Saint-Germain equalled their biggest ever league win, matching that at Troyes on 13 March, 2016. The win over Guingamp is the club's biggest ever home win.

38

Paris Saint-Germain scored in all 38 league games in the year, a French league record. In all competitions, the club failed to score just once in 2019, another best. Thomas Tuchel's men struck 142 times in 56 competitive games, an average of 2.54 per match. Thirty clean sheets also came, a record second only to the 31 they had in 1993.

40

By winning the league title and the Trophée des Champions, Paris Saint-Germain took its tally to 40 trophies, the most of any French club: 8 L1 titles (1986, 1994, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) 9 Trophées des Champions (1995, 1998, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) 1 Cup Winners' Cup (1996), 12 Coupes de France (1982, 1983, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 8 Coupes de la Ligue (1995, 1998, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 1 Coupe Intertoto (2001) and 1 Championnat de France National (now Ligue 2, 1971).

41

Mbappé scored 41 competitive goals in the year. Only Edinson Cavani has ever done better with 50 in 2017. Mbappé struck 31 league goals, becoming the first Frenchman to achieve the feat since Hervé Revelli with Saint-Étienne in 1969. In the 21st century, only Cavani has beaten that with 36 goals in 2017.

57

Marco Verratti made his 57th UEFA Champions League appearance with the club on Matchday 6 in the 5-0 win over Galatasaray to join Paul Le Guen as the man with the most European appearances in a Rouge et Bleu shirt, one game ahead of teammate Thiago Silva. By featuring in the Last 16 win over Le Mans in the Coupe de la Ligue in December, the Italy international now leads the club's appearance charts in that competition having played 20 times, one ahead of Sylvain Armand.
