With Blaise Matuidi majestic, Paris Saint-Germain picked up their fifth league title. Follow us on a journey through the 2014/15 season in which the club achieved an historic quadruple!

The match

Paris Saint-Germain clinched the trophy in the penultimate game of the season at Montpellier where Laurent Blanc's side needed just a point to claim the title.

It's Blaise Matuidi who opened the scoring 17 minutes in after Adrien Rabiot spotted his teammate in the penalty area. Matuidi's first touch and right-foot finish were too good for the Montpellier 'keeper.

Barely ten minutes later, Serge Aurier's cross was touched on by Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi provided the finishing touch. Anthony Mounier pulled one back before the break, but Paris powered across the line to claim their fifth top-flight title.

The player

Consistency, professionnalism and high-performance.

Blaise produced the perfect season, featuring in 53 games (34 in Ligue 1).

The team's lungs alongside Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta, the future FIFA World Cup winner set the benchmark in his position.

The stat

After an unprecedented treble the previous season, Paris Saint-Germain went one better, adding the Coupe de France with a 1-0 defeat of Auxerre at the Stade de France.

It's an achievement matched only by the Parisians themselves in the 2019/20 campaign.

The anecdote

The Matchday 10 game between Lens and Paris Saint-Germain was memorable for many different reasons.

Lit up by Maxwell's fantastic goal (see below), the match turned on three red cards in five minutes. Cavani won a penalty, and Lens defender Gbamin picked up a second booking for the challenge.

Cavani then netted the spot-kick but was sent off himself for a second bookable offence earned for his celebration (an inexplicable decision). A few moments later, Le Moigne was also dismissed for a reckless tackle on Cabaye.

The quote

«  We've had a great season, and a unique quadruple. It's exceptional, it's what we wanted. We play at Paris Saint-Germain for this sort of experience. We're going to enjoy it, because it won't be like this every year. »

- Blaise Matuidi
