18 May: David Beckham's last appearance at the Parc des Princes

It was seven years ago today that David Beckham stepped out at the Parc des Princes to make the last appearance of his illustrious career.

It was a May evening in 2013... David Beckham hung up his boots at the Parc des Princes where his lap of honour was full of emotion.

There were many reasons for that emotion, one of which was Paris Saint-Germain were celebrating the French title in front of their own fans. As a sign of all that Beckham had achieved, Carlo Ancelotti gave the ex-England captain the club's armband for the night with Brest the opponents.

But this was no testimonial game for the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy man. 'Becks' impressed with his trademark game intelligence and passing ability. He orchestrated Zlatan Ibrahimovic's opening goal (1-0, 6') and teed up the second for Blaise Matuidi (2-0, 31') with a corner to give Paris Saint-Germain a handy lead.

The second half was much the same until he was replaced by Ezequiel Lavezzi (81'), receiving an ovation from the fans, the players and his family and friends inside the Parc. Unable to hold back the tears, Beckham waved his goodbyes before being greeted in style by Ancelotti on the sidelines.

It was the perfect evening as Paris Saint-Germain celebrated their third league title with a 3-1 win and gave Beckham a fitting send-off to make it a night that the club and those present will remember forever.
