Zoumana Camara: ‘I am proud of what the players produced’
The Paris Saint-Germain U19s coach Zoumana Camara and his captain Yoram Zague looked back on their defeat against Dortmund (0-1) on Matchday 1 of the UEFA Youth League for PSG TV.
ZOUMANA CAMARA:
“With a little bit more luck, we could have maybe hoped to take a point. Aside from that, I am proud of what the players produced. I am proud of the efforts they put in, they played as a team, together. It's a very young team, they need to learn quickly, but I am sure that this kind of match will serve them well for the future, and when we go to Dortmund, they will be different.
There's this competitive spirit, we enjoy seeing the improvement, seeing them progress, but there's always that little bit of pressure that means we want to qualify. You can't separate training, development and competition. It's all part of a player's development, the two go together. You have to keep working, keep them progressing and continue playing this kind of match.
yoram zague:
"We played well for the first 20 minutes and then they changed system, which caused us some problems. They scored the goal and after that, we were still in it, but we couldn't convert our chances. We showed a lot of positives, we had several opportunities, that we didn't managed to put into the back of the net.
It's only positive for the future, it was only the first match. We will see what needs to be corrected and improved for our next matches. It's true that we lack experience, but it's not an excuse. It's the type of competition that we need, the more we move forward together, the more we will progress."
