Under-19s fall at Liverpool

Before the senior side open their UEFA Champions League campaign later on Tuesday, the U19 Rouge-et-Bleu side made their UEFA Youth League bow with a 5-2 defeat to their Liverpool counterparts.

After a bright start by the Baby Reds, it was no surprise to see them open the scoring through Rhys Williams' header (1-0, 8'), and just seven minutes later, they were two up through Camacho (2-0, 15'). There was even a third goal before the break for the hosts with Adekanye coming out on top in his one-on-one with Ouvry (3-0, 38').

Thiago Motta's side made a more encouraging start to the second half, and were eventually rewarded through Williams' 20-metre drive (3-1, 76'). But Liverpool regained their iron grip on the game two minutes later through Jones (4-1, 78') before Camacho scored his second (5-1, 80'). Paris reduced the deficit through Kalimuendo's penalty to end the match on a high (5-2, 87').

The U19s will seek to get their first points on the board when Red Star Belgrade come to the French capital on 3 October.
