U19s begin European campaign
Just like the Paris Saint-Germain first team, the Rouge et Bleu U19s begin their own European campaign against Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League today at 16:00 at the Stade Georges Lefèvre.
Drawn in a Group A that also includes Galatasaray and Club Brugges, the Paris Saint-Germain youngsters kick-off on Wednesday looking to measure themselves against the continent's best.
Forward Arnaud Kalimuendo told PSG TV: "Real Madrid are a prestigeous club, a big name that everyone knows. They have enjoyed a lot of success in this competition. It's always great to play against opponents of this calibre."
After missing out in the Last-16 play-offs last season, Les Rouge et Bleu are looking to reach of the heights of their 2016 campaign when they reached the final.
Stéphane Roche, the U19s coach, wants his side as well-prepared as possible: "The aim is obviously to try and make a positive start to the competition and win the match. But we also want to play well, rise to the pace and intensity of the occasion because this is international football. The little details will make all the difference. Real Madrid are one of the best youth academies in Europe so it is also an opportunity for our youngsters to play against the very best in their age groups."
