The U19s' perfect start continues

The Paris Saint-Germain U19s ran out 1-0 winners at Benfica on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Youth League group stage. A third victory in as many matches, and the run continues!

STARTING ELEVEN

Mouquet, El Hannach (c), Lamy, Fernandez, Zague, Kari, Bagbema, Muntu Wa Mungu, Lemina, Gharbi, Housni.

THE SCENARIO

Against one of the most reputed (and successful) youth teams, Zoumana Camara's Paris Saint-Germain side wanted to continue the excellent run that they started a few weeks earlier.

After victories against Juventus and Haïfa, next up was Benfica, in Lisbon, and a team in need of points in Group H.

The two sides cancelled each other out, with both teams trying their luck at the opposition's end of the pitch, but neither were able to find the breakthrough. Mouquet made an important stop to deny Moreira (21'), to allow Paris to stay in the match. He was called into action once more in the second half, to prevent Ferreira from scoring this time (53'), before eventually seeing his side take the lead with ten minutes left.

After he was found by Tchicamboud, the Paris forward took the ball with his right foot, held off the  Benfica defenders, before striking powerfully into the back of the net with his left foot (0-1, 80'), giving the Titis the three points and ensuring that their perfect European run continues.

NEXT UP

It's Benfica who will travel to Paris for Matchday 4 of the UEFA Youth League group stage. In the meantime, Zoumana Camara's team will head to Amiens this weekend for Matchday 8 of the Championnat National.
