The Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal creates its championship

The year 2022 is Senegalese!

The Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal has led the initiative of creating a local championship, with the aim of offering quality competition and playing time to all the young players in the region.

The objective of this championship is to respond to a local problem that the younger age groups of the country were facing. In Senegal, licensed leagues are only offered from the U17 category. Until now, there were no official competitions for the youngest categories. This championship allows young people from the U13 & U15 categories to taste the pleasure of competition.

For the older players (U17 and U20), this Paris Saint-Germain Academy league offers an additional attractive competition, alongside the existing ones.

For this first season, the new competition brings together more than 360 players divided into 4 categories (U13, U15, U17 and U20). Since January, they have been competing every weekend for a final in mid-May. This will be held in Saly on May 14 and 15, within the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal facilities (Complexe Sportif Bruno Metsu).

Most of the teams from the district of Mbour and Dakar are involved, including the Association Sportive Génération Foot, a branch of another Ligue 1 club (FC Metz). The quality of the participating teams made it possible to create an attractive championship, with high level matches and an interesting spectacle.

The project has been strongly supported by many influential figures in the region's soccer community, each convinced of the interest and unique opportunity that this league represents for its pool of young talent.

This is the first time that such a competition has been held in the country. We would like to congratulate the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal for this great initiative and thank all the stakeholders, from the federation to the different clubs that have trusted this project.

Enjoy the championship and see you in May to celebrate the winners!
