The MaracanĂ£ in Paris-Saint Germain colours

More than 700 children were at the legendary Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Friday for the final of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Cup Brasil 2018.

Family and friends gathered on the touchline early in the morning to see the under-7s play their final games in the three-day tournament.

There was a Brazilian atmosphere with songs and chants from parents ringing round the iconic venue, and even in defeat there was a smile on the faces of the children who had enjoyed a unique experience thanks to Paris Saint-Germain.

"The club's slogan is 'Dream Bigger', and that motivates us," Olivier Bertuel, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Brasil's CEO said. "Always dream bigger and today that's the goal of all the players: try to do difficult things...when you have that in mind, you achieve your goals. It's the dream of Paris Saint-Germain and the Paris Saint-Germain Academy to enable our young athletes to achieve their dreams, and we're going to keep doing that."

At the end of the day, all the players were given a medal and a trophy, awarded by Pierre-Yves Bodineau and Reinaldo da Cruz Oliveira, a former Paris player. The children headed home with their heads full of memories with Paris Saint-Germain having again won over Brazilians from Rio to Recife.
