The club salutes the memory of Jacques Chirac

It is with great sadness that Paris Saint-Germain learned, this Thursday morning, of the passing of the former President of France, Jacques Chirac.

During his successive terms as Mayor of Paris between 1977 and 1995, Mr Chirac accompanied the capital club’s fledgling years of existence and showed his loyalty to the club, particularly through his support in the early 1990s when Paris Saint-Germain needed it most.

On 9 May 1996, one year after his election as head of state, Jacques Chirac welcomed the players, staff and management of the Club to the Élysée Palace following the historic European Cup Winners’ Cup victory in Brussels against Rapid Vienna.

Paris Saint-Germain offers its deepest condolences to his wife, Mrs Bernadette Chirac, his children, grandchildren and all his relatives and expresses its deepest solidarity in these difficult times.
