Sabrina Delannoy: 'Working for a better world'

Sabrina Delannoy wore the rouge et bleu shirt for twelve seasons. A rare form of loyalty and an exemplary career for a player who never gave up on the pitch. She is now deputy director of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation and it's a new role that suits her perfectly.

Sabrina, before talking about your current situation, let's go back in time. You showed total loyalty by spending twelve years with Paris Saint-Germain. What are your memories of that time?

"I played for PSG from 2005 to 2017. It was an experience that made me grow. I grew at the same time as the club in a way. It allowed me to gain real experience as a top-level sportswoman. I experienced very strong emotions and also a bond with the crowd and the fans. These are memories that I still have deep inside me. All this also allowed me to develop as a woman. And to work on my career change. And I am very happy today to have been able to build my professional future at Paris Saint-Germain, and in particular at the Foundation."

You are now Deputy Director of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation. What exactly is your role?

"I would say that I manage all the club's social, educational, charitable and humanitarian projects through the Foundation. I have a team of about twenty people who work alongside me to implement and manage 350 to 400 projects each year, to help vulnerable people in difficulty. Mainly children. And thanks to all these sports and educational programmes, we try to work for a better world for all these people who often have a very difficult daily life. I really find this work meaningful on a daily basis. And that allows me to be very fulfilled in my job."

Can you tell us about this unique initiative with the street artist Alexandre Farto, better known as VHILS? Where did this beautiful idea of Temporize come from, a work of silk-screening on old Parc des Princes seats made into works of art? It's a nice way to pay tribute to the people of Paris?

"This initiative makes a lot of sense. We have a partnership with a gallery called Underdogs that has been with us for some time. With the artist VHILS, this is the fourth partnership with the gallery. The idea is to really collaborate with artists who also have a social mission and who want to invest in the causes that the PSG Foundation are defending. They make their talent and their works available, works that are then sold for the benefit of our fund. And once again, it really makes sense to work with VHILS because he has beautifully designed about thirty old seats in the Parc des Princes. It reminds us of the history of the club, it shows the incredible talent VHILS posseses and then, all the funds raised will benefit the club's social and charitable projects. The sale started this week."

There is also this charity auction with its 12 items, organised in partnership with Ebay. What exactly is it about?

"The sanitary situation for the last two years now has forced us to cancel our last two gala dinners. This dinner was an essential moment for the Foundation and the Fund, a dinner during which we could raise a maximum amount of funds, which are obviously essential to finance our actions. We therefore had to look for alternative solutions to fill this gap. We are in the digital age, so we had to adapt. We had to reinvent the way we do things. And the idea of organising this digital auction came quite naturally in the end. Thanks to the help of the club, the players and a few artists, we managed to put together a dozen items that are very special, with some unique pieces. This sale in partnership with Ebay will start on 12 December and will last 7 days, until 19 December. It will be a key moment for us."

Can you tell us about some of the items up for auction?

"It will be a mix of artworks from artists who have agreed to collaborate with us, exceptional items worn by the players. There is one piece that is unique, the shirt worn and signed by Kylian Mbappé, printed in Mandarin, which he wore for a PSG-Nice match last season. I'll leave it to people to be surprised about the other prizes..."
