Presnel Kimpembe lends his support to students at the Cantine Solidaire
The Parisian-born footballer and new patron of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation went to the Parc des Princes today to meet disadvantaged students and to give them food.
Today, the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation held the third edition of its Cantine Solidaire event in the Parc des Princes. The aim was to serve 250 disadvantaged students a hot meal prepared on site by the chef Clément Drulhe. A long-time supporter of the actions rolled out by his club, Presnel Kimpembe came to lend a hand and officially announce his intention to step up his involvement by becoming a patron of the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation.
“I really wanted to come and help people in need, announced Presnel Kimpembe. Every season, we have the opportunity to get involved in events organised by the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation and I’ve always been particularly interested in the actions that help young people in difficulty. This is why, this season, I am proud to step up my commitment by becoming a patron. I am delighted to be here today with these students, who have come to eat a hot meal in our stadium. It is a simple initiative that will be much appreciated.”
The Cantine Solidaire is organised in collaboration with the Ecotable community, which promotes sustainable food, and the Studhelp association, which fights against student hunger across France. The young people who came to the Parc des Princes were primarily international students who had applied for food aid and help with social insertion via the Studhelp association’s platform.
A number of sports and leisure activities led by the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation’s coaches punctuated the day: karaoke, basketball, football, board games and even stadium tours. The players of the Paris Saint-Germain U18 football team joined the day to take part in the activities. Workshops to help the students with professional insertion were also run by the club’s human resources staff, as well as by the O2 and APEC networks.
Candice Prévost, development and project manager from the Paris Saint Germain Foundation, added: “The Cantine Solidaire is a very important programme for the Foundation. It is the Foundation’s duty, as an organisation that seeks to help disadvantaged young people, to provide support and comfort to these students in need. After three editions, we have distributed more than 650 hot meals. We are delighted to be able to rely on the support of Presnel Kimpembe and I would like to thank him for being here today and for his commitment as the new patron of the Foundation. It is thanks to this type of event that we can make things happen.”
The day was rounded off with club goodies and hygiene products being handed out, courtesy of the club’s partner Nivea Men. The students all benefitted from the solidarity shown in the Parc des Princes during this emotion-filled Paris Saint-Germain experience.
