Pedro Miguel Pauleta: 'At the Parc, it'll be different'

We speak to the Paris Saint-Germain and Portugal legend ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game with Benfica.

Pedro, BEFORE WE TAKE A LOOK BACK, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO NOW?

"I'm still an ambassador for Paris Saint-Germain. I do a lot of things with the club, and I also work at the Portuguese FA. I've been Youth Development Director for the last ten years, and I also have my football school in the Azores..."

WHICH GOAL THAT YOU SCORED FOR PARIS DO YOU HOLD DEAREST?

"The goal against Marseille. It'll stay in my memory for all time, and in those of the fans. it was during my first Classique at the Parc des Princes. A goal against Fabien Barthez, it was a magnificent lob. It's true I was a little lucky too, but it's a goal that everyone classes as a 'great goal'.

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER FROM YOUR TIME IN PARIS?

"Paris will always be in my heart. I spent five great seasons there. There were really great years, full of fantastic moments. We won trophies, the Coupes de France and de la Ligue, several times. We also played in the Champions League...There were some good times, some not so good, but the connection between the club, the fans and I is something strong and special."

Paris FACE BENFICA AFTER LAST WEEK'S DRAW. what do paris saint-germain hAVE TO DO TO WIN AT THE PARC DES PRINCES?

"It was a great game from both teams. Playing Benfica at the Estadio da Luz is always difficult. Benfica are a team full of confidence right now, they're not losing games, and they're playing good football. Paris are superior, but it's always difficult to play Benfica. At the Parc, it'll be different with all our fans behind the team."

HOW DO YOU ANALYSE THE TEAM'S PERFORMANCES IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SO FAR?

"For me, Paris are the strongest team in the group. I think they'll finish top of the group. Paris are playing well, they're a team that keeps growing. Even tougher games are coming up and it's important to be solid defensively, because our attack can make the difference at any moment."

AND A LITTLE WORD FOR THE FANS?

"Between the fans and I, you know, is something very special.  I would like to tell them thank you, thank you very much, for everything, and thank you for continuing to support our club. Paris Saint-Germain are part of our family. Keep going and I know one day we'll win this trophy that everyone is waiting for."
