Paris Saint-Germain promote Qatar's attractions in Doha

Yesterday evening, the Paris Saint-Germain players rounded off their rapid 48-hour tour in Doha, which enabled them to meet with the club’s Qatari supporters and get the club’s locally-based partners involved. It was their first trip to Qatar since 2019, after various trips were postponed due to the health crisis.

As the country gets ready to welcome football fans from across the globe this winter, the first-team players went to look round the new infrastructures set up in Qatar. The players saw the immense progress made in terms of the quality of the facilities provided for the 736 players invited to represent their country in the world’s most prestigious football tournament, the World Cup, which starts on 21st November.

The 2022 Qatar Tour enabled Paris Saint-Germain to shine the spotlight on its partners All, Aspetar/Aspire, Ooredoo, Qatar Airways, Qatar Tourism and QNB.

On Sunday 15th May, the players had the opportunity to visit the Aspetar sports clinic, an innovative centre for sporting excellence, which enables hundreds of athletes from all over the world to receive top-quality healthcare from world-renowned experts every year. With QNB, they then paid a visit to sick children in the Sidra hospital, before meeting the boys and girls who play football in the Paris Saint-Germain Academy’s U6 to U17 squads in Doha.

On the Monday, they got an injection of culture when they visited the Souq Waqif, the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art, all major attractions that football fans will have the opportunity to visit between World Cup matches. The players also took part in some fun activities such as a coaching session for 15 sport and lifestyle influencers, a meet-and-greet with  guests from the Ooredoo group in the Olympic and Sports Museum, and various events organised in the 2022 World Cup stadiums (Education City Stadium and Al Thumama Stadium).

Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappé, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi and Danilo took part in a one-off live broadcast from two of the World Cup stadiums, with Qatar Airways. They also had the pleasure of chatting to football legend David Beckham. The former French champion spoke about his experience and his fondness for the club: “I was only at PSG a short time, but it’s like I was there for 10 or 15 years. It’s a real family. When you play for PSG, you stay in the supporters’ hearts forever.”

Qatar – a country that has hosted several of the club’s tours, including the Qatar Handball Tour in 2014 and 2015, the Qatar Ladies Tour in 2015, and the Qatar Tour in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 – was delighted with the success of these actions carried out in collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain.
