Paris Saint-Germain launches new football academy in Casablanca, Morocco!
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is thrilled to announce the opening of its new PSG Academy in Casablanca, Morocco, set for September 2024. This strategic initiative aims to extend PSG's renowned training methodology to Moroccan youth, further solidifying the club's sporting ties with Morocco.
The bond between PSG and Morocco is built on a mutual passion for football, exemplified by Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi's significant role at the club. With 4.9 million Moroccan followers on social media, the country ranks as the 10th largest supporter base for PSG. In the broader region, PSG enjoys the loyalty of 18.6 million fans, accounting for 12% of the club’s total global following of 214 million. Establishing the PSG Academy in Casablanca strengthens this connection and underscores PSG's commitment to nurturing football talent in Morocco.
Located in Tamaris, the state-of-the-art academy will feature various football pitches, including a full-size 11-a-side field and smaller 5-a-side, 7-a-side, and 9-a-side pitches. The academy will cater to boys and girls aged 4 to 18, providing top-tier training and facilities. In addition to football, the site will offer amenities such as a café and three padel courts to support players and their families.
The local development of the project is spearheaded by Daoud Boulanger, a seasoned French trainer with extensive experience in Morocco. As a UEFA and CAF instructor, Boulanger has collaborated with both the French Football Federation and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, bringing a wealth of expertise to the PSG Academy. His previous roles include Director of Training and Technical Director at several clubs, including Berkane.
Daoud Boulanger expressed his enthusiasm: “It is a great honor to offer a project of this quality to Moroccan youth. Sharing the culture of French training with these young football enthusiasts is a source of immense pride. PSG is a beloved club in Morocco and a benchmark in training excellence. I am excited to bring this project to Casablanca, providing our young players with the expertise of a prestigious club in exceptional facilities, fostering a family spirit.”
Nadia Benmokhtar, Head of Brand Development, added: “We are incredibly proud to expand PSG Academy to Morocco. This initiative underscores our commitment to youth training excellence and allows us to connect more closely with our passionate supporters in this football-loving country, offering them an unforgettable experience aligned with their enthusiasm for PSG.”
Looking ahead, PSG Academy aims to grow further within the kingdom, potentially launching additional centers or programs, thereby establishing PSG as the club for the next generation on a global scale.
