Paris Saint-Germain Judo signs first ever partnership with Qatar Airways

Paris Saint-Germain Judo and Qatar Airways have signed a partnership agreement running until 30 September, 2024. Qatar's national airline, crowned Best Business Class in the World for the tenth time at the 2023 World Airline Awards, has become the first partner in the history of Paris Saint-Germain Judo. This partnership comes at a crucial time for the Red & Blue judokas, and confirms the progress made by the judo section and the appeal of all the Paris Club's multi-sport sections.

By signing the first partnership in its history, Paris Saint-Germain Judo affirms the growing interest in the sport of excellence recognized for its values of respect, courage, and self-control. Paris Saint-Germain Judo athletes will now wear the Qatari airline's logo on their kimonos during training sessions and at national and European competitions during the 2023/2024 season. This partnership will also give rise to digital campaigns and conceptual experiences for Parisian fans and airline users.

Owing to this ambitious partnership, Qatar Airways and Paris Saint-Germain will be offering several extraordinary experiences. The first will take place on 9 December. On the Champions League in Belgrade, Serbia, guests will have the pleasure of going behind the scenes of this competition, in direct contact with the Club's judokas who are aspiring to win their first trophy in this competition. During the 50th edition of the Paris Grand Slam 2024, to be held from 2-4 February, 2024, fans will have the opportunity to meet their Parisian athletes in person. A few weeks later, lucky newcomers will take part in an exceptional meet-and-greet session with French legend Teddy Riner and his teammates ahead of their participation in the summer's major international competitions.

The organization of these events reflects Qatar Airways' investment in making sport accessible to enthusiasts through unforgettable experiences that enable them to travel to their favorite competitions around the world.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “We embark on a new journey with the addition of the Paris Saint-Germain Judo team into our portfolio. The team has a passionate fanbase and a well-represented list of star judokas leading the team. This Olympic sport has a worldwide audience, giving us the means to unite people of different backgrounds from around the globe.”

Djamel Bouras, President of Paris Saint-Germain Judo, adds: “We are delighted to see Qatar Airways strengthen its commitment to the Paris Saint-Germain family and to its judo section. Qatar Airways is an ambitious airline, and one of the most prestigious in the world. By being so close to our athletes, Qatar Airways is demonstrating its commitment to sport in general, and its support for judokas in one of the greatest years of their careers, as they approach the Champions League and the Olympic Games in Paris”.

Already a partner of the first team soccer since 2020, Qatar Airways became the players' Jersey Sponsor in 2022, as well as the new Official Airline Partner of the Club's women's football section. The company has now signed on as the Main Partner of the judo section, a historic collaboration that continues the project launched in 2017, with the considerable growth of the Club's fifth sports section.

Year after year, trophy after trophy, Paris Saint-Germain Judo aims for excellence, as demonstrated by its second consecutive double at the French team championships and its second consecutive participation in the Champions League. This collaboration further supports Paris Saint-Germain Judo's ambition to be a major player in its sport in Europe and worldwide. In 2023, Paris Saint-Germain was the most represented Club at the Paris Grand Slam and the European Championships. This will also be the case at the European Championships to be held in Montpellier in early November.
