Guillaume Hoarau: "An unforgettable memory"

From the Reunion Island, where he was born, to FC Sion in Switzerland, where he has been playing since 2020, Guillaume Hoarau played for Girondins for a few months in 2014, but above all for Paris from 2008 to 2013. He answers our questions, still with his eternal childlike grin.

Guillaume, how do you look back at your years in Paris?

“To put it simply, every time I think about it, there are stars shining in my eyes. Especially when you see what Paris Saint-Germain has become today: I'm even prouder to have been able to wear the club’s colours. I am very grateful to them and, above all, to the fans... People come to the stadium, they encourage us and if they could be on the pitch with us, they would."

Your first goal for Paris and at the Parc was against Bordeaux...

" Exactly, my first goal with Paris was at the Parc des Princes against Bordeaux. It's an unforgettable memory because it was a very difficult match. We had lost the first game against Monaco. The Parc was full, it was my first home game. So the pressure was enormous... I finished the match so tired! And Sylvain Armand played in a lovely cross from the left, I managed to connect and it ended up in the back of the net. It's a memory that still remains etched in my mind...".

You also wore the girondin shirt. What are your memories from that?

"I didn't last long there! It was on my return from China. President Triaud had offered me a contract until the end of the season. It allowed me to get closer to my son, who lives in Bordeaux. It's fair to say that I didn't have the time to really prove myself there. I was out of shape physically, you could say I was all over the place, and unfortunately I couldn't give my best. But Bordeaux remains a great historic club in France. And it is also honour to have worn that shirt, even if it was only for a few months."

What's your prediction for this Paris Saint-Germain - Bordeaux?

"Bordeaux are in a bad way. It's at the Parc. It's not going to be an easy game. I would say 3-0 for Paris even if it's harsh for Bordeaux. We need a reaction from Paris Saint-Germain. Bordeaux have nothing to lose but I don't see them having the weapons to really cause the Parisians problems."
