An outstanding day at the Parc des Princes for Women and children

On Friday 5th March, the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation organised a special day for women and children benefitting from the programme set up with the charity Du Côté des Femmes.

This exceptional event was attended by Irene Paredes, captain of Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team. It followed on from the collaboration initiated between Paris Saint-Germain, the Fondation des Femmes and its network of partner charities almost a year and a half ago.

Ten women and eleven children in need, who had been taken under the Du Côté des Femmes charity’s wing, were treated to a fun day out at the Parc des Princes. The day included a tour of the Parc, followed by a screening of the educational documentary “Little Miss Soccer” – a round-the-world tour of women who play football – as well as football and handball workshops. The high point of the day was when the visitors had the opportunity to chat with Irene Paredes about the values of solidarity and respect extolled by sport.

Candice Prévost, operations manager for the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation, announced: “We are delighted to be able to offer women and children who have had to flee from their homes a bit of escapism in these difficult times. This day at the Parc des Princes is representative of the support that Paris Saint-Germain’s instructors provide every week: human warmth and boosting self-confidence.”

Brigitte Chabert, President of the Du Côté des Femmes charity and of the Union Régionale Solidarité Femmes (URSF), added: “These experiences are vital for giving a bit of joy, levity and normality back to the women and children who come to us as a matter of urgency. The work done by Paris Saint-Germain’s instructors is crucial for helping these women and children to rebuild their lives. Du Côté des Femmes is proud to be able to rely on the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation’s commitment.

Since February, the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation’s instructors have run a tailor-made, weekly programme of sporting and educational activities for women and children in need. The benefits this type of programme has on the women’s and children’s morale and confidence were clear as soon as the instructors first joined forces with the URSF, back in summer 2020.

The Paris Saint-Germain Foundation is continuing its efforts to help young people and promote equality. The Club published a video of several players showing their encouragement to the new recruits of the “Allez les Filles” programme, which is starting up again this month.
