On Friday night, Paris Saint-Germain Handball play host to traditional rivals Montpellier in Liqui Moly StarLigue Round 25 action - a match that could see Les Rouge et Bleu crowned Champions of France. Check out the various possible scenarios…
PARIS WIN
Paris Saint-Germain will be crowned champions if they continue on the same dynamic they have been riding since the beginning of the season: a perfect record of 24 ins from as many matches. A 25th win in a row would allow Raul Gonzalez's men to take the national title for the eighth time in a row (nine in total). They would then have at least an eleven-point lead (with ten points still up for grabs) over nearest chasers Nantes, even if The H win in Limoges.
PARIS DRAW AGAINST MONTPELLIER
Even though the prestige of a potential title-winning would suggest that victory is key, a simple draw would in fact be enough for Les Rouge et Bleu to get their hands on the Liqui Moly StarLigue trophy. With 49 points heading into Round 25, the Parisians would have 10 points more than The H with five rounds to go, should Nantes win in Limoges. If Nantes win their last five games and Paris lose their last five, the capital club would still be crowned thanks to head-to-head goal difference, having beaten Nantes twice this season (29-30 in the first leg, 34-28 in the second).
NANTES DO NOT WIN IN LIMOGES
Whatever happens between Paris and Montpellier, if Nantes don't win in Limoges, Les Rouge et Bleu can't be caught in the standings, as they would have at least a ten-point lead over Nantes, with a better head-to-head goal difference (see previous paragraph).
