A look back on PSG Handball - Aix

News

On 9 November, Paris Saint-Germain Handball took on Aix in their Round 9 Lidl StarLigue clash at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. It turned out to be Les Rouge et Bleus' biggest victory of the season (along with their home triumph over Saint-Raphaël). A look back on this spectacular match!

Exceptionally, this league match was scheduled on a Saturday in order to accommodate Paris Saint-Germain's Velux EHF Champions League match against Flensburg - which they won.

So it was that Raul Gonzalez's men were on a positive dynamic in both Europe and France as they welcomed Aix to Paris, with the aim of trying to score a ninth victory in as many Lidl StarLigue games. This 'important week' had to come to an end, as Vincent Gérard recalled before kick-off.

The early stages of the match were very tight, both on the scoreboard and in terms of the challenges... which took an early toll on Nikola Karabatic's jersey (8': 3-4)!

The lead see-sawed as the two teams racked up the the highlights, Dylan Nahi creating a sensational moment for himself as he reset the score shortly after the first quarter-hour (16': 10-10).

After this feeling-out period, Paris sped up the pace and imposed a frantic rhythm on their opponents; in the space of ten minutes (20': 12-10), our team scored five times and conceded just twice (30': 17-12). Thanks to an excellent performance by Rodrigo Corrales, Les Rouge et Bleu took a lead into the break!

Our players came back even stronger after half-time, with captain Luka Karabatic making his mark. The Parisian pivot hit 5 from 6 to put his side even further in front (42': 24-18) - a performance that took him straight into the Best 7 for the round (alongside Rodrigo).

With money-time approaching, the result looked beyond doubt (50': 30-20). However, the Parisians did not let up the pressure and accentuated their lead - in style - as Gudjon Sigurdsson provided the evening's jewel in the crown: a kung fu/roucoulette combo!
