Les Parisiennes defeat Nantes

Match reports

The Paris Saint-Germain Women's team defeated Nantes 1-0, on the final day of the Arkema Première Ligue regular season at the Campus PSG on Wednesday 7 May 2025.

Determined to end the regular season in beauty, interim manager Paulo César started Mary Earps in goal behind a back four comprising Eva Gaetino, Océane Hurtré, Thiniba Samoura and Jade Le Guilly. In midfield, Korbin Albert, Laurina Fazer and Joe Echegini, with Frøya Dorsin and Sakina Karchaoui on the wings, look to feed Merveille Kanjinga at the point of the attack.

It only took two minutes for the first chance of the game as Korbin Albert was denied by Nantes ‘keeper, Emily Burns. Les Parisiennes continued to push and Thiniba Samoura saw her effort miss the target.

It wasn’t long before Joe Echegini opened the scoring when she curled the ball inside the far post from just inside the penalty box (1-0, 10’).

Albert was the next to be denied by the Canaries’ goalkeeper (14’) before the excellent Echegini, earned a penalty which she took – only to see her shot from 12 yards saved (37’).

In total control of the game, Tara Elimbi Gilbert, who came on shortly after the restart, was the next to try her luck in front of goal, only to drag her strike wide.

Les Rouge et Bleue looked to get the all-important second goal to make the game safe. Laurina Fazer’s shot from fully-30 yards out looked to be goal bound before it was deflected wide (69’). But there wasn’t to be any further scoring as Paris won their final game leading into the finals.

Attentions now turn to 11 May at 21:00 CET, at the Parc des Princes, when the team will take on Paris FC in the Arkema Première Ligue semi-finals while Olympique Lyonnais take on Dijon in the other game in the final four!
