On Sunday afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain Handball won their second match in as many Velux EHF Champions League outings, getting the better of Szeged (30-25) in a victory full of self-sacrifice, as confirmed by Raul Gonzalez, Viran Morros and Nikola Karabatic
Raul Gonzalez (Paris Saint-Germain Handball coach):
"We had the concentration to win it. Our good defence allowed us to score on counter-attacks. We didn't know when we would make the difference against this great team, who had beaten Barcelona. But we know that in the Champions League, it's always difficult to win. It's a long season and we'll have to play a lot of games like this one."
Viran Morros (Paris Saint-Germain Handball left-back):
"We played a great game, especially defensively, with an excellent Rodrigo Corrales. It makes it easier... I'm very happy, because this game was very important to us. We know Szeged, who are used to playing well against us. But we were able to win and we have to keep going."
Nikola Karabatic (Paris Saint-Germain Handball centre-half):
"This is a win for the whole team! We went after it with plenty of desire and a strong defense but we used our heads too. Even when Szeged came back, we didn't let it bother us. We kept playing hard and it paid off, especially in defence, which allowed us to switch into attack. Up front, we didn't always find the solutions, but we went looking for them. We are very satisfied."
