PSG Handball - Istres: All you need to know

News

At 20:00 on Friday evening Paris Saint-Germain Handball puts their title of French Champion back on the line as the Liqui Moly StarLigue swings not action. For this first round, it is Istres who travel to the Stade Pierre de Coubertin. Find out all you need to know about this match...

Paris at Coubertin
The last official match at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin was on 4 June, three months ago. On that day, Les Rouge et Bleu beat Nîmes to break their record for goals in a single league match - and celebrated their winning the league title.

The Olympians return
All of Paris' Olympians won a medal at the Tokyo Olympics this summer. France's Yann Genty, Luka Karabatic, Nedim Remili, Nikola Karabatic and Vincent Gérard won gold, while Mikkel Hansen and Henrik Toft Hansen (Denmark) won silver after losing the final to Les Bleus. Finally, Ferran Solé Sala's Spain finished third and therefore took bronze.

Les Rouge et Bleu's pre-season...
Returning to Coubertin on 3 August, the players who did not participate in the Olympic Games did plenty of running under the guidance our physical trainer Arthur Yapo.

The Parisian pre-season ended last Saturday with a success against Dunkerque (37-25). Les Rouge et Bleu won their three other games, against Créteil (31-36), Skjern (34-28) and Chartres (31-35).

...and Istres' pre-season
Istres won the Valence tournament (against Chambéry and Valence) but lost to Nice (25-28), Montpellier (35-33) and Aix (25-27).

The return of Samy
Five players have joined the ranks of Les Violets this summer. In addition to Jakob Mikkelsen, Henrik Olsson (son of our former assistant coach, Staffan), Messaoud Berkous and Edgar Dents, it is a face well-known in Paris who has signed with the club from Provence: Samuel Honrubia, who claimed three French league titles with the capital club between 2013 and 2016.
