2021 World Cup: Quarter-final drama!

News

France and Denmark both gave their fans some nervous moments before qualifying for the semi-finals, while Spain had an easier time of it as they booked a place in the final four. These results means that there will be no fewer than seven Parisians battling it out for a place in the final!

FRANCE - HUNGARY: 35-32

THE MATCH:

OUR PARISIANS IN THE MATCH:

Decisive on many occasions towards the end of the game, Vincent Gérard racked up eight saves at 32%, while Yann Genty made two. Not much playing time yesterday for Luka Karabatic, but our captain nonetheless found an opportunity to score in his 19 minute on the court. Meanwhile, Nedim Remili was not as clinical as he usually is in front of goal (4 from9), but he did set up four goals for his teammates and make one interception.

DENMARK - EGYPT: 39-38

THE MATCH:

OUR PARISIAN IN THE MATCH:

Top scorer for Denmark with ten goals, Mikkel Hansen once again weighed heavily in his side's victory, but the defending World Champions were pushed all the way to penalty shoot-out by a feisty Egypt side. The only downside for the Parisian left-back was the red card he received at the very end of the first overtime period - for passing the ball to a teammate after the whistle.

THE POST :

SPAIN - NORWAY: 31-26

OUR PARISIANS IN THE MATCH:

In a match dominated by Spain, Viran Morros set the example in defence with two interceptions and a blocked shot. Meanwhile, his Parisian teammate Ferran Sole Sala proved clinical with penalties, bagging 2 from 2 from the seven-metre line while also scoring once in open play.
