The draw for the Last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place at UEFA HQ in Switzerland on Friday.
INTRODUCTION
The top eight teams in the league phase qualified automatically for the Last 16, and are now joined by the eight victorious teams in the play-offs.
From the play-off round, the competition sees clubs pitted against opponents based on their final position in the league phase.
For example, having finished first (Liverpool FC) and second (FC Barcelona), they knew they would face the teams that finished 15th (Paris Saint-Germain) to 18th in the Last 16. The teams that finished third and fourth face the clubs that finished 13, 14, 19th and 20th, and so on.
The top eight teams are seeded and so play - in principle - the second leg at home.
Clubs can play teams from the same country and also opponents they have already faced in the league phase.

RULES
Last 16 draw
The top eight teams in the league phase are paired to make four seeded duos (1 & 2, 3 & 4 and so on).
The clubs in each pair will be drawn to face a play-off winner, whose position was determined during the play-off draw.
Four pots are prepared for the draw, each containing the seeded teams depending on their ranking.
The draw allocates the side of the bracket for all the seeded teams, starting with the teams ranked 7/8 and finishing with 1/2.
Quarter-final draw
The draw will determine the order of the matches (i.e. who plays the first leg at home) as potential opponents are already known all the way to the final.
There are four pots, two for each side of the draw. Each pot contains two balls representing the winners of the Last 16 ties.
Semi-final draw
There are two pots each containing the two quarter-final winners for each side of the draw.
The final
The team in the silver side of the draw will be the nominal home team for the final.
