Paris Saint-Germain put on a show for their final trip of the campaign, at La Mosson (0-4). We take a look at what turned out to be a straightforward victory.
Recently crowned champions of France, our Parisians were facing Montpellier for their last away game of the season. In a fervent atmosphere at the Mosson, the Red and Blue came out with an eleven centred around the Di Maria-Messi-Mbappé attack, who were fully intent on giving us a great evening.
The Red and Blue wasted no time in getting the show started. After a first warning with a long-range shot, Kylian Mbappé reverted to his role as a creator to set up his teammate Leo Messi. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's first chance of the game was followed by a second, which hit the target with a perfect finish from the world champion's pinpoint delivery (0-1, 6').
The Parisians did not settle after the opener and turned the game into a festive affair, showing themselves to be as disciplined as they were hard-working around the Montpellier area. It must be said that faced with Dall'Oglio's five-man defence, the players from the capital had to be as creative as possible to look for their way through...And the same duo did it again with another crisp move. A perfectly weighted outside-of-the-foot pass from Kylian Mbappé to a clinical Leo Messi, who only had to push the ball into the back of the net after rounding the opposing keeper (0-2, 20').
It was an opportunity for the Frenchman to add to his stats, which includes more assists (17) and goals (24) than any other player in the league. A double that has never been achieved in the top flight, and our magician did not stop there. Another move started by Kylian on the left was finished off by Angel Di Maria with a well-taken shot at the back post (0-3, 27').
With a comfortable lead, the front three were enjoying themselves. Klyian Mbappe's delicious curled shot went close to adding another (34'). The number 7 was on fire and was taking every opportunity to rattle Bertaud. The Montpellier rearguard were struggling to stop him, leading to a foul and a penalty which he then coolly converted (0-4, 59).
The icing on the cake of the evening was our two youngsters Michut and Simons coming on for the last 20 minutes of this great team performance, before the young Gassama capped it off. The end of the match was intelligently managed by our Red and Blue, with some good spells of possession and more flashes from Kylian Mbappé. See you next week for the last and final match of the season for our Parisians, in their garden at the Parc des Princes...
