Mauricio Pochettino: 'Managing the squad will be decisive'

The squad

The Paris Saint-Germain coach stepped in front of the cameras ahead of this weekend's league game against Metz.

METZ

"The match will be difficult. Metz are a well organised team with a very good coach. They're a very strong and physical team. We know it'll be difficult, but we want to be competitive and pick up the three points, that's our goal."

THE TEAM'S PROGRESS

"I see the improvement, but we're still not at our maximum potential. We're happy with the team and the players and the efforts they make. Our idea is to always improve and progress. We want to be better every game. We are coming into the most important period of the season, and we want to win every competition we're in."

RETURNEES?

"I don't have a complete answer to that. But Marco Verratti is back, Abdou Diallo too but Marquinhos won't be in the squad tomorrow, even if they've all returned to training with us."

THE TITLE RACE

"The key in the title race is to take each match very seriously. Managing the squad will be decisive to have a competitive team on the pitch every game. We are playing every three days, and I think in those circumstances all the players are important and have to be up to standard so that we can play and hope to win all three competitions."

IDRISSA GUEYE

"He's an experienced player who has also played in England. He's a very professional player, who trains well, who's always open. It's a pleasure to work with him. He has great timing and anticipation, he always tries to play the ball forward, and has a sense of sacrifice for the team."

PRESNEL KIMPEMBE

"He's a homegrown player who's come through the youth academy and he embodies its values. He's progressing very well, I'm happy with him. He's still young and has a lot of potential."
