It will be an all-Ligue 1 battle to make progress to the Round of 16.
The Parisians, current Ligue 1 leaders with 47 points from 19 games, finished 15th in the UEFA Champions League league phase on 13 points from 8 games. They finished ahead of Brest thanks to their superior goal difference (+5 to -1) as the Bretons came in 18th. The winner of the two-legged play-off tie will face either Liverpool FC or FC Barcelona in the Round of 16 with the draw on 21 February at the same time as those for the quarter-finals and semi-finals. The Round of 16 ties will be played on either 4 or 5 March in France with the return leg on 11 or 12 March.
Brest, currently 8th in L1 with 28 points, have played the Parisians 45 times in the past. Paris' record reads 28 wins, 13 draws and four defeats. The two sides have already faced each other in the league this season with the Rouge-et-Bleu winning 3-1 at the Parc des Princes on Matchday 4. Their second league game comes at the Stade Francis Le Blé this Saturday on Matchday 20 of the top-flight campaign.
