CHRISTOPHE GALTIER

"We gave a lot, we weren't caught out, but they did play two or three balls in deep that cast a doubt in our minds. There was a real desire to play out with short stuff from the back to break the first line of the Benfica press, and then to play in the spaces. In the first 20 minutes, it was difficult, but we still had a good end to the first half, with good technical control. We scored a great goal and I think that at that point, Benfica were having more and more issues pressing, but also played long balls that caused us to drop off. We conceded the goal which was a bit unfortunate, even though Benfica created chances in the first half and Gigio was very effective at dealing with the ball over the top. In the second half, we hassled them on the ball more, won more of the ball a lot higher up the pitch, which gave us the feeling of dominating a lot more. When we won the ball, we maybe lacked a little mobility and depth in the first half, which we then had in the second. We definitely dominated that half, but without managing to score the second goal. We create lots of chances, but we don't score as many as we create in the end. There were lots of risks taken, we really pushed forward a lot. It's down to us to be vigilant when we lose the ball. We will now prepare well for the match on Saturday, recover well, analyse everything properly for the match on Tuesday, which will of course become very important."

"It's a match that we dominated, we were just missing the winning goal. But we are still happy with our performance. The result is what it is, we have to accept it. We will continue to work, that is our strength. Now, we will look to recover because we have an important league match. And then we face Benfica again on Tuesday. The objective is still the same: to win every match. It's important to do so for our fans."
